STUART SCOTT SOMERVILLE WAS BORN ON 6TH FEBRUARY 1908 AND DIED IN 1983.
HE WAS AN OIL PAINTER OF FLOWERS, STILL LIFE, INTERIORS, FIGURES AND LANDSCAPES.
SOMERVILLE SPENT HIS CHILDHOOD AT ARKSEY IN YORKSHIRE. THE SON OF THE ARTIST CHARLES SOMERVILLE AND BROTHER OF PEGGY SOMERVILLE.
HE STUDIED ART UNDER HIS FATHER.
AT THE AGE OF 23 HE WENT TO AFRICA WITH AN OXFORD AND CAMBRIDGE EXPEDITION TO RECORD THE VISIT IN PAINT.
HE EXHIBITED AT THE ROYAL ACADEMY, THE ROYAL INSTITUTE OF OIL PAINTERS AND IN THE PROVINCES.
HE SPENT HIS LATTER YEARS NEAR WOODBRIDGE IN SUFFOLK.
