Born 14th March 1942 at Datchet, Buckingham, England and died on 9th January 1998. He is the grandson of Charles Henri Beauvais, an artist and lithographer, and son of Arnold Beauvais, also on artist and one time President of the London Sketch Club. He was educated at Staines Grammar School and on leaving school became apprenticed to his father, working on his studios in London, Paris and Rome.
The Beauvais family have had links with France and England since his grandfather, who was born in Marseilles, came to England to set up an art studio, and met and married an English girl, Anne Corfield in 1882. Charles Beauvais then returned to Marseilles establishing a studio which Arnold Beauvais took over on his death. In 1913 Arnold Beauvais came to London and his studio there produced work for RKO, Warner Bros and Walt Disney.
After his apprenticeship Walter travelled extensively in the Mediterranean, paying his way by selling his paintings, teaching boxing and developing property in Spain. In 1973 he returned to painting in earnest and it has been his livelihood ever since.
His first major exhibition in London was in 1985 and many exhibitions have been held in the UK, Europe, USA, Japan and Australia. His work is to be found in many permanent collections throughout the world, including two Royal Collections.
