Born: 1879 Victoria Died: 1969 Springwood, NSW Lindsay was a master of the pen. He is arguably the most celebrated Australian black and white illustrator of his time. His work at the Bulletin built the foundations of his unique characterised style. He is known for his interpretation of the female figure in many mediums such as etching, watercolours, oils, pen and ink and pencil. He has become an icon in the history of Australian Art, embracing controversy and staunchly refusing to change subject styles to please the masses.
