Harry Marriott- Burton was born in Nottingham, England, 1882. From the age of just fourteen he worked continually in both oils and watercolour. His paintings provide an interesting range of subjects.
Harry was a contemporary of Dame Laura Knight best known for her wonderful studies depicting circus life and the ballet. Whilst in London he lived at 3 Pembroke Studios, Pembroke Gardens. He was a member of the Langham Sketch Club and a fellow of The Royal Scottish Academy (F.R.S.A.). His work was accepted by The Royal Academy where he had the added honour of being "hung on the line" and sold.
Having painted all over Great Britain he decided to travel the world and observe it through an artist's eye. Exploring many countries including Italy, Spain, Rhodesia (Zimbabwe), Natal, Australia and New Zealand selling works but keeping his favourites (some have 'not for sale' on reverse).
When he and his wife made the decision to settle at Noosa Heads, Queensland in 1954, these beautiful paintings were a reminder of their exciting memories travelling the world. He passed away in 1979.
