Knight, Ken

Ken Knight (born 1956) is a remarkable Australian painter. His fascination for the landscape knows no bounds. From the harsh glare of the noonday sun across expansive rural pastures to the exquisite subtleties of ephemeral afternoon light on Sydney Harbour’s various coves and beaches. In the tradition of his mentors, the great Australian impressionists of the1890s and the tonal painters of the interwar period, Ken seeks out the shimmering colours – the pinks and blues, soft greens and golds – of the Australian landscape. In June 2015 he spent two weeks in Venice and found it not only exhilarating and totally inspirational, painting en plein air around the canals, searching out the labyrinth of waterways and interesting corners that offered endless possibilities for painting subjects. It is truly a painter’s paradise and I loved being lost in the magic of Venice.

If you speak to Ken Knight, you will be immediately impressed by his passion and enthusiasm.
