Danciger, Alice

Danciger was born in Antwerp, Belgium in 1914.

Painter in romantic expressionist to abstract styles in oil, watercolour, pen, charcoal and theatre;  Textile designer.

STUDIES:  In Sydney under Dattilo Rubbo and in Paris 1935-38;  Has lived overseas for periods since 1947;  Returned to Sydney in 1972 after living in Rome  for some years; Has designed many theatre sets including the Kirsova ballet in Australia.

EXHIBITIONS:  Her work was shown at the  Salon des Tuileries, Paris 1935-38, and the Contemporary Art Society and the Society of Artists in Sydney;  Solo shows in Rome 1950;  Macquarie Galleries, Sydney 1951, 1973.  Retro Show,  Barry Stern 1986;  Eddie Glastra 1988.

REPRESENTED:  Art Gallery of NSW; many institutional and private collections in Australia and overseas.
